The Wasia Project is made up of brother and sister duo William Guo and Olivia Hardy. As they approach the release of their debut album, Nocturnes, they find themselves at an exciting yet early stage in their careers. However, their journey to this moment has been anything but brief. The siblings’ journey has spanned childhood performances in their living room, training in classical piano, a hit Netflix series, Soundcloud fame, and tours across Europe and North America.

It’s easy to see why they’ve garnered such a fervent following. Each of their tracks paints rich sonic landscapes that oscillate between the melodramatic pop of Kate Bush and the swinging jazz of Frank Sinatra. With their latest effort, the two tap into the magic of the twilight hours. Nocturnes is a mature exploration of freedom, liberation, and the type of self-reflection only accessed when the world sleeps. Over twelve tracks, Olivia’s vocals soar to operatic heights that would befit both a midnight drive and the moonlit hallways of a haunted house. At the same time, Will’s synths add a velvety smooth texture to each song, making the underlying angst the duo wrestles with float in the ear with the abrasiveness of a whisper.
