Tokyo called, we answered.
For a decade, ATARSHI GAKKO! has been turning music fans into diehard devotees with their unique brand of hyper-pop and undeniable charisma. While technically an idol group, the quartet exists as a refreshing alternative to the traditionally ‘kawaii’ and uniform J-pop industry. Equipped with powerful melodies, razor-sharp choreography, and charisma that can be seen from space, they explode through earphones and onto stages around the globe. In the last few years, they’ve performed on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, ‘Head in the Clouds Festival’, and welcomed in 2026 with a performance at Kabukicho Tower.
We caught up with ATARSHII GAKKO! while they were in Sydney for their ‘THE MARCHING OF AG! TOUR’. They gave us a glimpse into their chemistry, mindset, and thoughts on J-pop. In turn, we taught them that koalas are just as stinky as they are cute.
Thanks to Jenny Kim, Tomoyuki Hachigo, Julia Kim, Thuy My Nguyen, Futaba Mizuno, Yuka Ihara, and The Orchard for making this happen.

ATARSHI GAKKO!’s latest single ‘Sailor, Sail On’ is now available on all streaming platforms.
